Specialised Stroke Rehabilitation

Stroke is the leading cause of long-term disability. The goal of Stroke Rehabilitation is to improve recovery in the years after a stroke, and to decrease long-term disability.

Stroke Rehabilitation focuses on a multidisciplinary concept, including input from a Physician, Nursing professional, Physical and Occupational Therapist, and Speech- language Pathologist. Our rehabilitation team uses a variety of techniques to improve performance after stroke, such as strengthening of both weak and intact extremities, use of assistive devices and bracing, environmental modication at home and at work, and prevention of further disability. We also use a Computerised Unweighing System to improve gait.
